3 Exercises to Add to Your Routine

We can all agree that always doing the same exercises can be monotonous and uninspiring. The problem, though, is knowing how to switch it up! We’re helping you add excitement to your fitness routine with 3 workouts below that are easy to add and will get you excited about your fitness routine again!

For all of these exercises, make sure to keep your core engaged throughout.  Keep your back in a neutral position with shoulders back and down during all of the movements.  Oh, and breathe!

Burpees

While many of us haven’t done a burpee in years, this is a great exercise to get your whole body moving and your heart rate up. Tip: it’ll be more challenging than you remember it being!
Not sure what a burpee is?

1. Begin in a standing position

2. Drop into a squat position with your hands on the ground near your feet

3. Kick your feet back so that you are in a plank position

4. Jump your feet back in to return to the squat position in step 2

5. Jump straight up as high as you can from the squat position with your arms overhead

Skipping

If your cardio routine is getting boring or not pushing you as hard as it once did, try adding skipping to the mix. Simple, quick skipping with a rope can provide exceptional cardiovascular exercise while also strengthening arms and shoulders. It’s also an option that’s easier on the knees as both legs are absorbing the impact of each jump simultaneously.

Walking Lunges

In order for a fitness routine to be most effective, each person needs a healthy balance of cardio and weight training. Walking lunges are a great way to target your lower body while engaging your core for stability. Take it up a notch by carrying a light weight in each hand while doing these!

1. Begin standing with feet shoulder width apart

2. Take a step forward with your right leg, bending both legs at a 90 degree angle.  (Make sure to keep your body upright, with your shoulders over hips)

2. Step your left foot through, back to starting position

4. Repeat on your left side

With these three workouts, there's no doubt that your fitness routine will get a boost of excitement and, ultimately, be more challenging.  Give it a try!
